Congress Criticizes Modi Government Over Slow Progress on Darbhanga AIIMS

The Congress party has heavily criticized the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the stalled construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, Bihar. According to the party, after a decade, only a pillar for the main gate has been completed, alleging the government has deceived the people of Mithila. Congress spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari shared images of the incomplete gate on social media, refuting claims that medical services have begun at the facility. He accused the Prime Minister of consistently making false statements, with Darbhanga AIIMS being a prime example. Local residents and the Mithila Student Union have also expressed frustration, accusing the government of neglecting public health and threatening further action if construction does not accelerate. The AIIMS project, announced in 2015 and slated for 187 acres with an estimated cost of ₹1264 crore, has seen its foundation stone laid by PM Modi in November 2024.
