Congress Accuses Modi Govt of Stalled AIIMS Project in Darbhanga
The Congress has heavily criticized the central government over the stalled construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga. The party alleges that after 10 years, only the main gate pillar has been built. Congress spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari accused Prime Minister Modi of making false claims, stating that despite his assertions of treatment being available, only a gate stands. Local residents and student organizations have also expressed anger and threatened protests, calling the situation a betrayal of the people of Mithila and a political game played with essential healthcare needs. The project, announced in 2015 and approved in 2020 with a foundation stone laid in November 2024, is intended to be built on 187 acres at a cost of ₹1264 crore, but progress has been severely delayed.
