Hazaribagh police in Jharkhand have conducted a significant operation, utilizing drone cameras and local assistance, to eradicate illegal opium cultivation. The campaign has successfully destroyed over 400 acres of poppy crops in forested and hilly areas, particularly in the Chouparan block, which was previously a hub for drug traffickers from Punjab and Haryana. Police Superintendent Anjani Anjan initiated the intensified drive, with an additional 300 acres identified for destruction. The operation aims to completely eliminate opium farming in the region, with ongoing efforts to apprehend individuals involved in the drug trade under NDPS cases.
