Suspended PCS Officer Demands Repeal of SC/ST Act, Threatens Nationwide Agitation
Alankar Agnihotri, a suspended PCS officer and former City Magistrate of Bareilly, has announced plans to launch a nationwide protest demanding the abolition of the SC/ST Act, which he has termed a "black law." Agnihotri claims that over 95 percent of complaints filed under this act are fabricated and that the law causes fear and mental stress among general, OBC, and other communities. He alleges that government agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax are being used to create a climate of fear, preventing elected officials from speaking out. Agnihotri plans to give the government seven days to convene a special parliamentary session to repeal the act, failing which he will lead a mass movement, asserting that thousands of organizations support his cause. He also suggested that current government strategies are designed to influence the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and that the ruling party would face significant losses if elections were held now.
