27 Still Missing, Only 3 Bodies Identified Four Days After West Bengal Warehouse Fire

Four days after a devastating fire at a warehouse, reportedly belonging to food chain Wow! Momo, in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, 27 individuals remain missing, and only three of the 21 recovered bodies have been identified through DNA testing. Forensic efforts are underway to identify human remains, with families providing samples. Wow! Momo has confirmed three employee deaths, offering ₹10 lakh compensation and lifetime monthly salaries to their families. Police have arrested two company employees, sending them to six-day custody. The incident has escalated into a political dispute, with the opposition BJP accusing the state government of negligence regarding fire safety audits and demanding the Chief Minister's resignation. Governor Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose also visited the site, criticizing the state's handling and questioning the accountability of relevant departments.
