Rare Himalayan Red Fox Sighted in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi District

A rare Himalayan Red Fox has been photographed in the Parashar region of Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district by wildlife photographer Suraj Bhatia. The fox was seen relaxing on a hilltop, a significant sighting as these animals are typically found in higher-altitude, remote areas like Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur. Its presence near Parashar Lake, a popular tourist and religious site, highlights the district's rich wildlife heritage and a healthy ecosystem, indicating sufficient food sources and safe shelters. Red foxes play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by controlling rodent populations. Following this rare observation, Bhatia urged tourists visiting such sensitive areas to refrain from disturbing or feeding wildlife and to avoid littering, ensuring the preservation of their natural habitats.
