Security Forces Eliminate 16 Maoists in Jharkhand Jungle Encounter
Security forces engaged in a significant operation against Maoists in the Saranda forest of West Singhbhum, Jharkhand. An exchange of fire occurred between security personnel and militants in the Kumdi area, situated between Kiriburu and Chhotanagra police stations. Reports indicate that 16 Maoists, including a wanted leader, were killed. The Kolhan DIG confirmed the encounter, and efforts are underway to finalize casualty details. Several bodies have been recovered. Cobra 203, 205, 209 battalions, and CRPF units participated in the operation, which is part of a national objective to eradicate Maoism by 2026. A separate report also suggests the death of one Maoist in the Samtha area of Jagannathpur. The operation was launched based on intelligence in the dense Saranda forest, a known stronghold for Maoist activities. This intensified action follows recent strategy meetings focused on dismantling Maoist infrastructure in the region.
