Elderly Woman Brutally Assaulted on Witchcraft Suspicion in Bihar; SP Orders Action

An elderly woman in Motihari, Bihar, was brutally attacked by a group of individuals who accused her of being a witch following the death of a village boy in Gujarat. The assailants allegedly fractured her skull, broke her teeth, and defiled her with waste. The victim initially faced rejection at the local police station and Motihari Sadar Hospital, where she was denied treatment due to her condition. Seeking justice, she approached the Superintendent of Police (SP) at a public grievance redressal forum. Taking serious note of the matter, SP Swarna Prabhat reprimanded the local police station chief and ordered an immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and the arrest of the accused, emphasizing that violence in the name of superstitions like witchcraft will not be tolerated. The police administration has assured a thorough investigation and strict action against the perpetrators.
