Darbhanga AIIMS Construction Stalled for 10 Years, Congress Criticizes Government
Construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, Bihar, announced in 2015, has seen negligible progress a decade later, with only a main gate pillar erected. The Congress party has sharply criticized the central government and Prime Minister Modi, alleging deception of the Mithila region's populace. Congress spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari pointed out the discrepancy between official claims of the hospital being operational and the current reality of only a gate. Local residents and student union leaders have expressed significant frustration over the protracted delay, noting the lack of development despite local BJP representation, and have warned of protests if construction does not commence soon. The project, intended as Bihar's second AIIMS, is planned for 187 acres with an estimated cost of 1264 crore rupees.
