Spoiled Food, Unhygienic Conditions Found in Awadh Express Pantry Car During Raid at Kota
During an unexpected raid on the pantry car of the Bandra-Barauni Awadh Express (19037) at Kota Railway Station's Platform Number 1, Divisional Commercial Manager Kishore Patel uncovered a significant quantity of rotten potatoes and spoiled eggs, which were reportedly being prepared for passengers. The inspection also revealed poor quality poha, dal, and chhole preparations, and substandard raw materials. Unhygienic conditions were prevalent throughout the pantry car. All spoiled and unfit food items were immediately seized and destroyed to prevent their distribution to passengers. The pantry contractor and manager received a stern warning, with instructions issued for imposing a heavy penalty. Senior Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain stated that such inspections are routine, and the concerned pantry agency, IRCTC, has been notified. Further action will be determined upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
