Nagaur Police Seize Rs 28 Lakh Worth of MDMA, Arrest One
In a significant bust, Nagaur police in Rajasthan, in a joint operation with the DST, have seized 142.08 grams of MDMA, valued at approximately Rs 28 lakh. The police have apprehended a notorious drug smuggler, Asharam Gehlot alias Ashish, who had allegedly converted his uncle's house into a warehouse for narcotics to evade arrest. The accused was reportedly involved in the synthetic drug trade in Nagaur for a long time, supplying to local youth and college students. Investigations revealed that Gehlot used code words and WhatsApp calls for transactions to avoid call recordings and was bringing synthetic drugs from other states to sell at higher prices in Nagaur. Police records indicate multiple previous cases against the accused under the NDPS Act. The police are currently interrogating Gehlot to uncover the source of the MDMA and identify potential buyers, suspecting a larger interstate network. This operation, part of 'Operation Neelkanth', is considered a crucial step in protecting the youth from drug addiction.
