The Magh Mela in Prayagraj has witnessed an unprecedented influx of devotees, with a record 3.56 crore pilgrims taking a holy dip by Friday evening on Basant Panchami. This number significantly surpassed the local administration's initial estimate of 3.5 crore attendees for the entire period spanning Basant Panchami to Republic Day. Anticipating a further surge in visitors over the upcoming weekend and Republic Day holiday, the Mela administration has devised a special plan to manage the large crowds. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the administration for its meticulous arrangements and thanked various supporting bodies, including religious organizations, police, sanitation workers, and volunteers, for the successful conduct of the sacred bathing festival.
