Odisha Elder's 300km Pushcart Journey for Paralyzed Wife's Treatment

A 75-year-old man from Odisha, Babu Lohar, embarked on an arduous 300-kilometer journey, transporting his 70-year-old paralyzed wife, Jyoti Lohar, on a pushcart for medical treatment. Facing extreme poverty and the inability to afford an ambulance, Babu Lohar took his wife from Sambalpur to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for advanced care. Despite his advanced age and the challenges of navigating highways and rural roads, he persevered, often receiving assistance from sympathetic strangers who offered food, water, and financial aid. After successful treatment in Cuttack, Jyoti's condition improved. However, their return journey was interrupted when their pushcart was hit by an unknown vehicle, reinjuring Jyoti. Undeterred by this setback and his own physical limitations, Babu Lohar continued his difficult trek back to Sambalpur with his injured wife, exemplifying remarkable love, dedication, and resilience in the face of profound adversity.
