ED Raids Uncover Stash of Cash in Odisha Illegal Mining Probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted extensive raids across Ganjam district in Odisha, reportedly uncovering significant amounts of cash during investigations into illegal mining activities. The operations targeted locations associated with BJD leader and contractor Hrushikesh Padhi, as well as around 20 other sites believed to be linked to him and his associates. The raids are reportedly focused on allegations of tax evasion and financial irregularities connected to the alleged nexus between sand mafia, tax evasion, and political patronage. The ED has not yet released an official statement regarding the exact amount of cash seized or its source. The investigation stems from multiple FIRs related to illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals using forged documents, and follows recent reports by the CAG highlighting large-scale illegal mining in the district.
