SIT Probe Concludes in Noida Engineer's Drowning Case, Action Expected Against Authority Officials
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has largely completed its inquiry into the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta, who drowned after his car fell into a deep, water-filled pit in Noida's Sector-150. The SIT recorded statements from various officials and personnel from Noida Authority, SDRF, and other departments involved in the rescue operation. The investigation focused on the timeline of the incident, the reasons for the delay in rescue, and the use of equipment. Sources indicate that the SIT has gathered all facts and will submit its report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath soon. Following the report, action is anticipated against Noida Authority officials found negligent. Yuvraj Mehta died on the night of January 16-17 when his car, en route home from Gurugram, skidded off a sharp turn in dense fog and plunged into an open, unbarricaded construction pit near Sector-150. He struggled for assistance for approximately two hours before succumbing to drowning.
