Migrant Worker's Suspicious Death Sparks Violent Protests in Murshidabad
The suspicious death of Alai Sheikh, a 30-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal's Murshidabad district, in Jharkhand has triggered widespread unrest in his native village of Beldanga. Upon the arrival of his body, angry villagers and family members swiftly blocked National Highway-12 and railway tracks at Beldanga station, severely disrupting transport services. The family vehemently denies the initial reports of suicide, alleging that Sheikh was brutally murdered, possibly due to his Bengali origin, and his death was staged to appear as a suicide. They are demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Police and administrative officials have been deployed to the area to manage the tense situation and are attempting to pacify the protestors, who refuse to end their agitation until justice is served and arrests are made.
