Himachal Pradesh Grapples with Widespread Road Closures Amid Heavy Snowfall and Rain

Over 1,250 roads across Himachal Pradesh remain closed due to heavy snowfall and rain, prompting authorities to deploy approximately 3,500 machines for restoration efforts. The severe weather has led to ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alerts being issued for several districts, with temperatures plummeting to -10.2 degrees Celsius in regions like Tabo village. While many tourists who arrived to witness the snow are now facing significant challenges such as traffic jams and water scarcity, some are still enjoying the winter weather despite the difficulties. The Public Works Department minister, Vikramaditya Singh, stated that the government is working diligently to clear the roads and has hailed the snowfall as beneficial for upcoming crops and water replenishment. Tourists have been advised to travel responsibly and adhere to weather warnings.
