Himachal Pradesh Experiences Relief From Dry Spell with Rain and Snowfall
After a prolonged dry spell, Himachal Pradesh has finally seen a change in weather. Mandi district received rainfall in its lower areas and snowfall in higher altitudes overnight. Popular tourist and religious spots like Shikari Devi, Kamrughati, Saraj Valley, and Prashar Rishi are now covered in a fresh layer of snow. The precipitation has brought much-needed relief to farmers and horticulturalists, whose crops and orchards were at risk due to the drought. The rain is expected to benefit winter crops like wheat, barley, and vegetables, as well as apple and other fruit crops. However, the weather change has also led to slippery conditions on several high-altitude roads in Mandi, causing traffic disruptions and prompting authorities to advise caution. The district is bracing for colder temperatures, and the meteorological department predicts continued light rain and snowfall in higher regions for the next few hours, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel.
