Delhi High Court Cancels Bail in Encroachment Drive Violence Case

The Delhi High Court has canceled the bail granted to an accused, Mohammed Ubedullah, in a case related to violence that erupted during an anti-encroachment drive near Faiz-e-Elahi Mosque in the Turkman Gate area. The High Court found the lower court's bail order to be brief, unclear, and lacking sufficient grounds, deeming it legally unsustainable. The court observed that the documents submitted in support of the bail were not satisfactorily verified. The case stems from an incident on the night of January 6-7 when demolition of encroachments near a mosque led to a mob of 150-200 people gathering and pelting stones at police and municipal workers, injuring six police personnel. The prosecution claims Ubedullah was involved in obstructing officials and damaging public property, while the defense argues he was falsely implicated.
