Special Trains to Run on Jammu-Srinagar Route Amidst Snowfall Disruptions
Due to heavy snowfall on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and its impact on air travel, the railway department has decided to run special reserved trains between SMVD Katra and Srinagar. These trains will operate on January 27th and 28th, offering an alternative for passengers as the highway remains affected and Vande Bharat services will be unavailable. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, a crucial all-weather link, was closed for two days following snowfall in the Banihal sector and partially reopened on Sunday. Air services in snow-covered Kashmir also experienced disruptions. The weather department has forecast more rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir from January 26th to the evening of January 27th. The special trains are scheduled to accommodate passengers whose travel plans might be affected by the adverse weather conditions and limited train availability.
