Son of ITBP Officers Arrested in Chandigarh with Methamphetamine
The Chandigarh Police Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has arrested Abhishek Chandel, a BTech graduate, for drug trafficking. Chandel was apprehended with 10.1 grams of methamphetamine ('Ice') while attempting to supply drugs in Chandigarh. He is identified as the son of an ITBP Assistant Commandant stationed in Assam and an ITBP Superintendent in Noida. Police, acting on a tip-off, pursued and stopped his i20 car after he tried to evade them. Chandel reportedly told police he engaged in drug smuggling due to his expensive lifestyle. He has been charged under the NDPS Act and sent to judicial custody, though his parents have not yet been informed of his arrest. Investigations into a larger drug network are ongoing.
