Punjab Launches Universal Health Scheme with INR 10 Lakh Annual Coverage
The Punjab government has launched the 'Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana' in Mohali, spearheaded by AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. This significant initiative aims to provide improved and free health facilities to approximately 3 crore residents from 65 lakh families across the state. The scheme offers universal health insurance coverage of up to INR 10 lakh per year, notably without any conditions or income limits. Beneficiaries will have access to cashless treatment at over 900 government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh. This expansion from a previous INR 5 lakh limited coverage is part of the Punjab government's broader commitment to strengthen public health infrastructure and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all citizens, free from financial burden.
