Leopard Kills 10-Year-Old Boy Near Panna Tiger Reserve, Sparking Outrage
A horrific incident has occurred in Jardhobha village adjacent to Panna Tiger Reserve, where a man-eating leopard preyed upon a 10-year-old boy. The attack has instilled fear in the region and led to significant anger towards the forest department. The boy was reportedly going to deliver food to his grandfather when the leopard ambushed him. The gruesome aftermath revealed the leopard had dragged the victim's body into a tree, separating its head from the torso. Following the discovery of the dismembered body, forest officials and the Superintendent of Police visited the scene. Villagers have voiced concerns about the increasing boldness of wild animals and the inadequacy of forest department patrols. The Deputy Director of Panna Tiger Reserve confirmed that evidence suggests a leopard was responsible and announced an ex-gratia of 8 lakh rupees for the victim's family. Plans are underway to set up cameras to trap the leopard and potentially tranquilize and relocate it.
