Delhi Government Approves Funding for Metro Phase IV Expansion
The Delhi government has approved its share of the budget for Delhi Metro Phase IV, releasing Rs 3386.80 crore for the project. This decision aims to strengthen the public transport system in the national capital, funding three new metro corridors. The ambitious project has an estimated cost of Rs 14630.80 crore, with Delhi government contributing its allocated share. The approval is expected to accelerate the construction of a 47-kilometer new metro network, improving traffic conditions, reducing pollution, and easing traffic congestion. Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh hailed the decision as a milestone for smart mobility, predicting reduced road traffic, smoother commutes, and environmental benefits. The new corridors will connect Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Inderlok to Indraprastha, and Rithala to Kundli, enhancing connectivity across Delhi and NCR regions. The expansion is anticipated to benefit millions of daily commuters, reduce fuel consumption and air pollution, and boost economic activity.
