233-Year-Old Sanskrit Ramayana Manuscript Donated to Ayodhya Museum
A rare, 233-year-old Sanskrit manuscript of Valmiki's Ramayana, dating back to 1792 CE, has been handed over to the Ram Katha Museum in Ayodhya. The manuscript, featuring the 'Tattvadipika' commentary by Maheshwar Tirtha, was presented by Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, to Nripendra Misra, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Museum and Library's Executive Council. This historical artifact, written in Devanagari script, contains five key kandas of the Ramayana and represents a preserved textual tradition. Previously housed at Rashtrapati Bhavan, its permanent transfer to Ayodhya aims to make it accessible to scholars, devotees, and the public, furthering Ayodhya's role as a global center for Ramayana studies and promoting India's ancient knowledge tradition.
